CNA Program Information

How do I get my CPR requirements met?

The only CPR card that is accepted to enroll in the Nursing Assistant classes is the American Heart Association BLS provider certification. No other certification will be accepted. Please visit the Community Education page to enroll in a CPR class at CCC.

Where do I register for the CNA class?

All documents needed to enroll in the courses must be reviewed by the CCC Nursing Department prior to registering for class.

1. Upload all required registration documents to the Nursing Secure Upload found on the Secure Upload page.
2. The records will be reviewed and the student will be notified via email if they meet the requirements.
3. Registration will verify academic prerequisites, and if all academic prerequisites are met, the student is granted permission to enroll.
4. Students register through self-service on the myCCC portal.

What do I need in order to enroll in the Nursing Assistant (CNA) classes?

The following documents are required to enroll in the nursing assistant classes (NUR 110 and NUR 111). For more information regarding these requirements, please review the  Nursing Assistant Prerequisite Information . These documents must be in-hand when registering. Please register in person on the Fourth Street campus.

Health Records

1. American Heart Association BLS provider card that is current and will not expire before the end of the semester)
    
2. Evidence of a negative TB skin test that is current and will not expire before the end of the semester (2-step TB skin test is required for students registering for the Page campus classes)
    
3. Arizona DPS Level 1 Fingerprint clearance card
    
4. Flu shot for the current flu season (flu season is October – April)
    
5. Tdap within the past 10 years and will not expire before the end of the semester
    
6. Two varicella vaccines or positive titer read by a healthcare provider
    
7. Two MMR vaccines or positive titer read by a healthcare provider 
   
   
8. Valid Driver’s License or Passport

Academic Records

9. Proof that ENG 098 or higher has been completed (if this has not been completed, please review the documentation required located in the Nursing Assistant Prerequisite Information sheet above.)
    
10. Proof that MAT 088 or higher has been completed (if this has not been completed, please review the documentation required located in the Nursing Assistant Prerequisite Information sheet above.)
     
11. Medical Terminology I (AHS 131) is required as a pre-requisite or co-requisite

How do I obtain an Arizona DPS Fingerprint Clearance card?

A non-IVP, Level 1 AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card can be obtained by visiting the Arizona DPS Website. It may take several weeks to obtain the card, so please plan ahead. This card must be in hand at the time of registration (license number and expiration date). A fingerprinting location can be searched by visiting the Arizona LiveScan Website .

Certified Nursing Assistant

Nursing Assistant students have a choice to be listed on a registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or obtain a license through the Arizona Board of Nursing (AZBN) as a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA). Students who are seeking the LNA license must submit fingerprints directly to the Arizona Board of Nursing. This can be completed by submitting an FD-258 fingerprint card or submitting fingerprints electronically. Information related to the fingerprint card can be found by visiting the Arizona Board of Nursing Fingerprint Card Instructions Page . Please note: the Arizona Board of Nursing will not be accepted an AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance card. Course: NUR 110, Nursing Assistant I, 4 Credits

The Certified Nursing Assistant’s role will focus on the adult population which covers the basic concepts required to become a member of the health care team in long-term and acute care settings. Topics to be taught include (but not limited to) an understanding of activities of daily living, communication, basic nutrition, basic emergency care, principles of infection control, medical terminology, resident safety, and ethical/legal aspects of health care. Fundamental nursing skills based upon the basic nursing concepts above will be reinforced through giving individualized resident care in the classroom, lab, lab practice time, and clinical rotations. This class meets 6 hours per week.

Course: NUR 111, Nursing Assistant Clinical I, 1 Credit, (40 hours of Clinical)

This course will the clinical for for as a Nursing Students will to all members of the team and of and of based in care. This course requires forty (40) hours of supervised clinical in a variety of health care facilities.Students must have a grade of 75% or more in nursing 110 to attend clinicals. Clinical dates and times are scheduled during the semester.

Textbook and Supplies

A textbook and workbook are required for the courses are available at the CCC Bookstore on the Lone Tree campus.
