Bus Pass Frequently Asked Questions
The Mountain Line Pass is available free of charge to those Coconino Community College enrolled students who have the most need as determined by Financial Aid. Other students and employees may purchase an annual pass for $35 as available. There are a limited number of passes at this price.
If you received a bus pass in the 2019-2020 school year and you are still attending CCC, your pass is valid until 5/31/21.
What is the Bus Pass program?
Mountain Line, which is run by NAIPTA (Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority), has granted discounted passes to CCC for its students and staff. The passes allow transit service access on all Mountain Line routes. Passes will be free to those determined to have the greatest need by the Office of Student Financial Aid. Any remaining passes will be offered to other students and staff at $35. Pass availability is limited so they will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
Why are CCC and Mountain Line offering this program?
CCC and Mountain Line officials have been aware of CCC’s parking shortage issues during peak times. Encouraging more use of public transit is a natural and cost-effective alternative to building more parking spots, so the two entities agreed that removing the financial barrier to riding transit might encourage more students to leave their cars at home.
Where can CCC faculty, staff, and students get a pass?
Eligible students will be notified of their eligibility by an email sent to their CCC student email account and can pick up their free bus passes from the Security Department, once an application is completed online. If the free bus passes have been exhausted, students may pay $35 for one of the discounted passes, as available.
Other students and staff who want to purchase a discounted bus pass must first complete the online application and then go to the cashier to pay $35 and receive their bus pass.
How are the bus passes used and are there any restrictions?
The passes can be used on any Mountain Line route at any time. When boarding a bus, the pass should be tapped on the card reader. A green light will indicate that the pass is valid. Any CCC student or faculty/staff member participating in the program should be prepared to present a valid CCC identification card to the driver if requested. All passes are non-transferable and may not be used by anyone who is not a current CCC student or faculty/staff member. Drivers will confiscate passes that are used fraudulently and report the pass number back to CCC.
How are the passes tracked and what if a student or faculty/staff member leaves CCC?
Each pass contains a 14-digit number/letter code on the back and CCC will track which pass is given to whom. The CCC Business Office has developed a system to tie individual passes to individual students or employees. CCC will run reports on a regular basis to send information to NAIPTA on which cards to deactivate.
What if a pass is lost, stolen or damaged?
It is the pass holder’s responsibility to keep the pass safe and intact. No holes may be punched in the pass, and it should not be near excessive heat. Lost, stolen or damaged cards should be reported to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. CCC will contact Mountain Line to arrange a replacement which must be picked up and paid for at Mountain Line. There is a $3 replacement fee payable to Mountain Line.
What are the closest stops to the CCC Campus?
Routes 4 (Gold) and 14 (Brown) both stop at Lone Tree Road in front of the CCC campus. The Fourth Street campus as convenient access from Routes 7 (Purple) and 2 (Blue).
How can I get help with planning my trip or learning how to ride the bus?
Mountain Line has a Google Transit-based Trip Planner on its website at the Mountain Line Website. The Front Desk staff can also answer trip planning questions at 928-779-6624. Mountain Line offers a Travel Training program where individuals or small groups can receive personalized instruction on all facets of transit ridership – trip planning, reading the schedule, payment, safety, and more. This service can be scheduled by calling 928-679-8911.
What happens at the conclusion of the current program or expiration of the annual pass?
This program is made possible by the Arizona Community Foundation of Flagstaff in generous collaboration with Mountain Line Transit. CCC and Mountain Line officials will continue to meet and evaluate the current program. There is no guarantee that the program will continue beyond 5/31/21 but we hope this will become an annual offering.
