Nursing Program Advising Information
Pre-requisites classes
Pre-requisites classes for Nursing that must be completed before applying for admission to the Nursing Program for Fall 2023 include the following.
- ENG 101*
- ENG 102*
- ENG 140 (or higher)*
- BIO 201 (pre-requisite is BIO 181)**
- BIO 202**
- CHM 130 (or higher)**
General Education Classes
The following general education classes are included in the AAS in Nursing degree and may be in progress while applying for admission to the Nursing Program. It is strongly recommended that these classes are completed prior to applying to the nursing program.
- PHY 240 (pre-requisite is PHY 101)**
- BIO 205**
- BIO 218**
- NTR 135**
- Arts and Humanities Elective*
*These courses have no expiration dates.
**These courses must be taken within the past 10 years. BIO 201, 202, 205, and CHM 130 must have both a lecture and lab component
Additional Requirements
Other requirements needed to apply for admission to the Nursing Program for Fall 2023 include
- Completion of the Nursing Program application
- Grade of “C” or higher in all required pre-requisite courses
- Grade point average of 3.0 on a four-point scale or higher (GPA is based on pre-requisite courses only).
- The average GPA for the Fall 2022 cohort is 3.7
- Verification of current Arizona Nursing Assistant (LNA) license. A CNA license is not accepted.
- Current, unexpired Arizona DPS fingerprint clearance card
- Unofficial transcripts that include all pre- and co-requisite courses taken must be provided (including CCC unofficial transcripts for courses taken at CCC).
- ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) exam completed with a total minimum score of 66.1% or higher
- ATI Teas measures basic essential skills in the academic content areas of reading, mathematics, science, and English/language usage
- Exams are administered in January with a chance to retest in early-mid February
- Study guide and resources are available on the ATI website
- The average TEAS score for the Fall 2022 admission cohort is 80.6%

- Attend a Nursing Application Information Session
- Information sessions provide details regarding the requirements for application and are a good chance to understand the processes for the Nursing Program. It also gives the applicant a chance to ask questions.
- A total of two sessions will be held prior to the application due date. These sessions will be held via Zoom. Please check the Nursing Information webpage for the Zoom links.
Other Information
- A felony conviction and sentence must be completed 3 years before an LNA or RN license can be approved by the AZBN. It is the student’s responsibility to contact the AZBN for details and information. For more information, visit the Arizona State Board of Nursing website.
- An AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card can be obtained by visiting the Arizona DPS Website.
- If accepted to the Nursing Program, a letter of intent, a health information sheet, proof of immunizations, copy of current Arizona LNA license, and an American Heart Association BLS Provider card are required immediately. This information is mailed with the acceptance letters.
- It is not advised to work full time once admitted to the Nursing Program. In addition to 16 hours per week of lecture and lab/clinical, students should expect about 20 hours per week dedicated to clinical time and studying. Students must plan around scheduled class, clinical, and lab days.
Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP)
- CCC is partnered with ASU, GCU, and NAU for students interested in earning the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree while attending CCC’s Nursing Program. Students who are accepted to CCC’s Nursing Program have the option to take online classes through one of the three universities.
- For students interested in NAU CEP, an AGEC is required. Please contact an advisor to discuss.
Advising / Contact / Support
Students are strongly encouraged to schedule an appointment with an advisor at least once a semester to review progress and answer questions about the Nursing Program. Students can contact the Nursing Program via email for further questions regarding the Nursing Program.
