High School Graduating Class of 2023 Free Summer Tuition

Who qualifies to go to CCC for free in summer 2023?
All Class of 2023 high school graduates from high schools in Coconino County. This includes those who reside in Coconino County and completed their high school requirements through homeschooling or passing the GED test between September 1, 2022, through August 31, 2023.
What does “free tuition” mean?
2023 high school graduates from high schools in Coconino County will have their tuition fully paid. Students are still responsible for the rest of their costs (textbooks, living expenses, etc.).
How do I apply for free tuition?
Apply for Summer 2023 admission to CCC, provide residency documentation, meet with an academic advisor, and register for classes online using your MyCCC account or in person at one of the CCC campuses. If you are a 2023 high school graduate from Coconino County, CCC will automatically award your free tuition a few days after your residency has been determined and you have registered for classes. An email will be sent to your CCC student email account stating that you have Financial Aid Awards.
How do I get registered for classes?
Apply for Summer 2023 admission to CCC, provide residency documentation, and then register for the classes either online through your MyCCC account or in person at one of the CCC campuses. Can I still get other grants and loans?
We encourage all students to complete the 2022-23 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Any Pell Grant or other aid you are offered can be used to pay for expenses beyond your tuition and fees.
I cannot attend CCC in summer 2023. Can I use the free college certificate for a future semester?
No, CCC is only able to offer free tuition for the summer 2023 semester. We look forward to seeing you this summer!
How many credits can I take this summer for free?
We recommend that you take between 3 and 9 credits. Summer semester is only 8 weeks long, so you can expect to spend two hours in class and up to four hours on homework for every credit you take. Most classes are 3-5 credits each. Students may not take more than 12 credits during the summer session.
Are non-credit classes like CPR free?
No, the free summer classes offer only cover classes that are taken for credit. Classes that do not count for credit are not covered by this offer.
Can free tuition be used for to pay for CCC on-line classes?
Yes, CCC offers a variety of classes in-person and on the web. The free tuition covers both.
I am a resident of Coconino County and completed (or will complete) homeschooling in spring 2023. Am I eligible?

I am a resident of Coconino County and completed (or will complete) online high school or high school in another county in spring 2023. Am I eligible?

I am a DACA student who graduated from a Coconino County high school in spring 2023. Am I eligible?
DACA students who attended an Arizona public or private high school, or homeschool, for a minimum of two years - AND - graduated from an Arizona public or private high school, homeschool equivalent, or obtained an Arizona high school equivalency (GED) diploma are eligible if they graduated from a high school in Coconino County.
I am an undocumented student who graduated from a Coconino County high school in spring 2023. Am I eligible?
Undocumented students who attended an Arizona public or private high school, or homeschool, for a minimum of two years - AND - graduated from an Arizona public or private high school, homeschool equivalent, or obtained an Arizona high school equivalency (GED) diploma are eligible if they graduated from a high school in Coconino County.
I graduated in spring 2023 from a high school outside of Coconino County. Do I qualify to go to CCC free in summer 2023?
No, however, we encourage all students to complete the 2022-23 FAFSA to gain access to other federal student aid.
I graduated from high school last year. Am I eligible?
Students who graduate(d) from Coconino County High Schools between September 1, 2022, and August 31, 2023, are eligible. Students who graduate(d) from high school prior to September 1, 2022, are not eligible.
I'm currently a Dual Enrollment or CAVIAT student attending CCC. Do I need to reapply to CCC to go there this summer?
Yes, in order to receive the free summer tuition, students need to apply for Summer 2023 admission as a college student so that we may determine eligibility. For more information view our instructional video on how to do it.
How do I get admitted to CCC?

What documentation does CCC need to determine my eligibility for free summer tuition and when is it due?
During the admissions process, you will be asked questions about your residency status and you will need to provide documentation such as a valid state identification card (like a Driver's License) in order for CCC to determine your residency. Residency documentation must be submitted to CCC by Thursday, May 18, 2023. Failure to provide adequate residency documentation will lead to the student being dropped from class beginning May 22, 2023. Students who turn 18 after August 31, 2023, may also be required to provide proof of high school graduation.
Do I have to fill out the FAFSA?
No, but we recommend that you fill out the 2022-23 FAFSA as you may find that you qualify for even more money.
Do I need to show you my diploma or high school transcript to prove I graduated or received my GED?
Students who are 18 and over do not need to provide a copy of their high school transcript or diploma, but will certify that information during the admission application process which is available at https://www.coconino.edu/apply-now . Students under the age of 18 may be asked to provide proof of graduation from high school. In some instances where documentation is not yet available from your high school, our counselors will work with high school counselors to determine if the student has graduated from high school.
If I have not graduated from high school by the time summer 2023 starts, am I eligible?
Students who graduate from Coconino County High Schools between September 1, 2022, and August 31, 2023, are eligible.
How can summer 2023 be free?
CCC is using college scholarships to make tuition free for all 2023 High School Graduates from a Coconino County High School.
What are the implications if I do not successfully complete my free summer classes?
CCC wants you to succeed! If you need additional help at any time, please let one of our counselors know immediately. You will not be charged if you do not complete your class(es) or if you fail them. However, withdrawing from your summer classes, failing them, or earning below a 2.0 grade point average can trigger a suspension status which blocks you from receiving Federal Student Aid in future semesters at CCC.
