The Wonder of Weather - Free Community Comet Talk
From the drought of "non-soons" to wild flooding events, weather is an enigma to most people outside of a weather forecast. Join us with Michael Erb to dive into the science and history of northern Arizona weather patterns.

Comet Talks are free and open to the public. Registrants may attend live in-person at the CCC Fourth Street campus or tune into the live webinar stream. Lecture to also be live streamed at the CCC Page Campus in room A1. All registrants will receive access to the webinar the week prior to the lecture.

Michael Erb is an assistant research professor at Northern Arizona University, where he conducts research about the climate of Earth's past. While getting his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science at Rutgers University, he experienced the remnants of Hurricanes Irene and Sandy, which brought wind, rain, and flooding to New Jersey (Sandy also brought a multi-day power outage!). As a scientist and author of two weather-themed novels (including "The Weather Detectives" this year), Michael confronts mysteries both in his research and in fascinating books.

Reasonable accommodation for a disability available upon request via registration.

Due to the recent increase in COVID 19 cases, face coverings (masks) are required at all times while on a CCC campus, including in classrooms and labs. Current guidelines regarding face coverings and other COVID protocols can be found on the CCC coronavirus web page, https://www.coconino.edu/coronavirus, and changes to the COVID protocols throughout the semester will be posted in this location.
