Stress Management
A vast majority of the population will experience stress, adverse childhood experiences, and/or a traumatic event during their lifetime. Unfortunately, many individuals who exhibit signs and report symptoms that correlate with trauma- and stressor-related disorders are often misdiagnosed with other disorders. The brain's job is to keep the body alive. It can overreact to imagined and perceived threats and is wired to want instant relief and reward. This course will discuss the basic neuroscience of trauma- and stressor-related disorders and describe adaptive interventions.
Jessica Holton has two decades of experience as a private practitioner specializing in treating Trauma- & Stressor-Related Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Addictions, and Grief & Loss. She earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) and became certified in Social Work Practice with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing from East Carolina University. She is board certified in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS); and board certified in Arizona as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Jessica is active in leadership roles with the National Association of Social Workers at the local, state, and national levels. She has composed many professional newsletter articles, compiled a six-hour continuing education curriculum on addiction, and is a national public speaker.
