Instruction Methods

Coconino Community College offers three instruction methods to deliver the best possible learning environments for students during the COVID-19 pandemic.
 

For Spring 2021, we will be gradually reintroducing in-person classes at CCC. Although most of our classes will still be offered online through Zoom and Canvas, we will be making a limited number of classes available to take in person on our Lone Tree, Fourth Street, and Page campuses. Social distancing, masks, and other health measures will be in place to protect students and instructors. If an in-person class that you want to take fills up, we invite you to take advantage of our new waitlist feature to save "a place in line" if a seat in the class opens up.

 

Videoconferencing

Synchronous

Meet by Zoom on scheduled dates and times. Instructors will provide schedule and links to the videoconferencing sessions.

Online

Asynchronous

No set meeting days and times. Students work at their own pace with weekly due dates for assignments through Canvas.

In Person

Synchronous

Students meet at designated campus location on the days and times listed for course.

Hybrid

Mixed

Part Online, Part In-Person
OR

The Spring 2021 schedule will be published on Monday, November 2, and advisors are available to help you choose the right classes. Priority registration for continuing students also begins on November 2 with general registration for new and returning students starting a week later, so start planning now to take classes at CCC in the spring!

 

What to expect

Course start dates remain the same
First day is Monday, Jan. 11

Masks and self-checks are required for everyone
All are required to wear masks, check in with Security desks for contact-less temperature checks, and CCC Self-Check Protocol .

CCC Lanyard and ID
Students and employees will be asked to wear a lanyard and their CCC ID upon entering buildings. Verification of one-time waiver completion will be added to lanyards for convenient Security desk check-in.

Social distancing required
Keep 6 feet between you and others at all times

Comet Connection
Areas dedicated for student access to technology and Internet on all three campuses. View the Comet Connection page for more information.

Canvas for all students
The Canvas learning management system will be used for all courses

Computer labs are open for enrolled student use

WiFi is available in all campus parking lots

Children/Family Members and Pets
We ask that students and employees come to campus by themselves to reduce the risk of exposure to your loved ones and to the campus community. Pets must be registered with Human Resources or Disability Resources.

Zoom Information

Videoconferencing courses are delivered through the Zoom video conferencing tool. This tool allows instructors to conduct classes online through a desktop client or a mobile app. Students may join a Zoom class anywhere with their smartphone, tablet, or computer with an active Internet connection. To participate, users must have a microphone, webcam and speakers

Be Aware of Your Surroundings
Wear pants, mute phone's notifications, politely ask your dog not to bark

Don't Talk Over Each Other
Use Chat or Emoticons to convey information instead of interrupting, Dave.

Arrive Early / Test Before
Check internet speed, microphone, and webcam before your class starts

Zoom is new to most users this semester, it may take time to master

Frequently Asked Questions

Wait Lists - New information for Spring 2021

Automated Wait Lists are here!  Trying to register for a class but it's full? 

 

When searching for courses or attempting to register, you may see that the course is "closed" or "waitlisted".  If you see this, you can secure a spot in line by adding yourself to the waitlist for that course.  If a spot becomes available in the course it will be offered to the first student on the waitlist.  That student will be automatically notified at their CCC student email address and will have 24 hours to register.  If the student does not register by the deadline - or decides to drop themselves from the wait list - the spot will be offered to the next student on the waitlist.

How do I access Canvas / Gmail / Self Service Banner

Canvas, Student Email (Gmail), Library, Tutoring, Self Service Banner (Degree Progress, Transcripts, Registration, Financial Aid, Pay your Bill, Personal Information), and more can be accessed using myCCC. myCCC is our single sign-on portal that provides access to a variety of online services.

You can login to myCCC with your CometID and password. If you experience any issues with the myCCC portal or have questions, please contact the ITS Help Desk.

What courses are available in person?

What campuses are open and what are the hours during the Fall semester?

All three campuses are open at this time for normal business hours for the Fall semester  Campus Hours page.


If there are any changes or updates, notices will be posted on the CCC website, and emails will be sent to student and employee emails.

What technology is available if I don't have a computer/Internet at my residence?

  • Computer Labs on the Lone Tree, Fourth Street and Page sites are open for the Fall semester.
     
  • Comet Connection is available at all three sites are areas dedicated for student access to technology and Internet on all three sites
  • NAU Cline Library is open for CCC Students and available after hours with an available RFID tag from their reception desk.
     
  • ITS Help Desk has a Laptop Loaner Checkout for students who need a laptop.
  • The CCC Parking lots at all three CCC locations have WiFi available to students

Upon entering campus, what can I expect?

When entering any CCC campus please wear your CCC ID on a lanyard. Then, check in at the Security Desk to complete a one-time waiver to receive an ID sticker.  The sticker will make future Security check-ins more efficient.
 

Temperature checks will be requested at Security desks.  All CCC faculty, staff, and guests will be asked to use the CCC's Self Check Protocol s to ensure the safety and health of all of our community members.

How do I pay my tuition?

Online: Tuition can be paid online by logging into myCCC and following the steps:

Login to myCCC

Use the "Pay your Bill" QuickLaunch Icon

Choose "Pay Your Bill, Setup a Payment Plan, Purchase a Parking Pass" link

Follow the Prompts to pay for your tuition

 

In Person: Tuition can be paid in person on the Lone Tree and Fourth Street campuses by speaking with Student Accounts.

Is Advising or Tutoring available during the Fall semester in person?

Advising

Academic Advising will continue to be offered in a virtual format for the fall semester.  Please visit the Academic Advising page to schedule your Zoom advising today!  Students can contact Brian Francis, Program Manager Sr. of Academic Advising at 928-226-4337 if they feel that they have a special circumstance that requires an in-person advising session.

 

Tutoring

Tutoring for Fall 2020 will begin Monday, Aug. 31 and will be offered online through links published in Canvas. Students who would like assistance with using Canvas or Zoom prior to the start of term may request an appointment at any time by using the Tutor Request Form linked below.

I need placement testing to determine my courses.  What do I do?

Due to impacts of COVID-19, Coconino Community College is temporarily suspending placement requirements for Summer & Fall 2020 only. Placement test requirements have been waived, even if you haven't taken the ACT, SAT, or ACCUPLACER. Starting May 4, 2020, students will be able to register for Summer and Fall classes through self-placement, without the need for a placement exam or other exam score.

Do I have to purchase a Parking Pass for the Fall semester?

Student parking passes for the Fall have been discounted to $40.00 and are valid through Aug. 14, 2021.

I have Bookstore business to tend to.  What are bookstore operations like for Fall 2020?

The Coconino Community College Bookstore is always open online for students, faculty and staff on the Coconino Bookstore Website . We continue to partner with CCC to determine appropriate in-person hours of operation that align with campus in-person service availabilities and start dates for classes. What are my risk factors for coronavirus infection on campus?

You can just John Hopkins Self-Checker to check your symptoms and to learn how to protect yourself and others.

 

On campus your risk factors vary based on how you and the community properly follow all risk-mitigation steps.

 

If local health conditions deteriorate in a way that makes spring in-person classes risky, we will change these classes to Zoom and notify enrolled students no later than Monday, Jan. 4, 2021. Once the spring semester begins, individual classes may be moved from in-person to Zoom on a case-by-case basis if students or instructors test positive for COVID.

Keeping our Community Healthy: Tips for Preventing the Spread of COVID-19

Wear a mask - CCC values the health and safety of staff, faculty, students and the community. Cover your mouth and nose when around others

Wash your hands - Proper Centers for Disease Control guidance states to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds using soap and water, or use hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol

Stay at least 6 feet away from people

Monitor your health - If you develop any symptoms follow CCC's Self Check Protocol

Cough or sneeze into your elbow or tissue - Don't reuse tissues or sneeze on other people

Avoid touching your face - Don't touch your eyes, nose or mouth unless you wash your hands before and after

Avoid people who are sick, sneezing, coughing, and people who do not follow these steps - This includes family and friends as much as possible

Stay home as much as possible - Reduce visitors and unnecessary interactions
