S.T.A.R.T. Smart: New Student Orientation
Student Transitions & Academic Readiness Training
New Student Orientation trains you with a foundation of skills needed to get a good start on your college education. Topics covered include:
- Connections to campus services
- Campus tour
- College technology (college ID/login, email, student information system, online course management system, etc.)
- Planning for success
- Financial planning
Students new to CCC are invited to attend one of the following in-person sessions or our online Orientation before the start of the Fall 2013 term. Orientation is the first START session that students can attend each academic year. Participation in 4 workshops each semester earns students a certificate of completion and a t-shirt. For more information on the START program, click here.
New students who have registered for classes are able to participate in the online Orientation through CCC's Learning Management System, CANVAS. Completion of the program's final quiz gives students credit for the START program. To login to CANVAS and participate in the online Orientation, click here.
To learn how to use CANVAS, keep an eye out for START workshops labeled "Canvas Student Orientations." The sessions will help guide you through the tools used in your online courses. You can find upcoming sessions on the START Calendar.
