Coconino Community College is a safe place to be and we want to keep it that way!

Safety and crime prevention starts with everyone being aware and doing their part to “harden” themselves as targets.

Through this program, we are trying to make people aware of their role and responsibility in preventing crime. No place or person is immune to crime. The good news is potential for victimization can be limited with a few simple measures.

That means;

During our patrols, we found a weakness we would like to make you aware of.

What we found!

(In The Parking Lot)

You left your door(s) unlocked
There is a valuable item in plain view in your vehicle
Your keys are in the car
Your car rolled backwards
Your windows aren’t rolled all the way up
You left your lights on
Visible clothing identified your gender (Ladies)
Visible documents with your name or address on them
You left your bicycle unlocked

(In Different Locations)

You left keys unattended
You left property unattended and accessible
Your office was empty and open for an extended period of time
You left something turned on such as lights, etc. Please help conserve energy.

Helpful hints:

Ask for an escort to your car if you get nervous
Assume someone would do that to you
Be aware of your surroundings
Have your keys in your hand when you head for your vehicle
Keep a spare car door key in your wallet/handbag
Arrange for your ride to be there when you get out of class so you do not have to wait outside
Have your ride pick you up at the front door so you can stay inside the building
Know who you are talking with & requesting assistance from
Security Officers wear tan shirts with the “CCC” logo & “Security” embroidered. Parking enforcement wear orange traffic vests that say SECURITY.
